Dr. Kirschbaum

OD, Associate Optometrist

Dr. Stephanie Kirschbaum ("Dr. Steph") has been a private practice Optometrist for 36 years. She grew up in Santa Clara before attending the University of California, Davis (UC Davis). Her passion for community volunteering started early and includes the following: helping with Kiwanis Club work projects, giving weekend tours at the Vet Med Teaching Hospital, volunteering in the UC Davis ER, and founding the Foresight Pre-Optometry Club at UC Davis for students interested in the science and profession of Optometry. Dr. Steph then attended the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry (UCBSO) from '83-'87. During her first year at UCBSO, Dr. Steph founded the UC Berkeley chapter of the Foresight Pre-Optometry Club for undergrads. As a student, she also enjoyed a vision outreach trip to the Dominican Republic.

After graduating, Dr. Steph continued her community work by starting vision outreach programs for homeless adults and children and teaching eye anatomy in schools. She started her own practice in Alamo, CA, while concurrently doing infant vision research at UCBSO. After 2+ decades of taking care of patients in the Bay Area, Dr. Steph moved to Nevada County to raise her two children. Here, she still delights in community service and her kids. Dr. Steph has also served as Ambassador for Vision Service Plan (VSP) for over 30 years now. Her passions include: reading and exercising and she adores animals, especially bulldogs!

Amber

Optician

I began my Optical journey in 2005 at a local optometry office with Dr. McKnight! I started out as an Optometric Technician administering Preliminary-tests on patients before seeing the doctor. A few years later, I made the transition into Optician, and I have been happily "framing patients" ever since! I then obtained my certification through the American Board of Opticianry (ABOC) in 2012. I have lived in Nevada County for over 30 years. I graduated from Nevada Union in 1997 and have raised my three kids here. I feel I specialize in carefully selecting each frame and lens option to truly fit every patient's needs. I customize each pair of glasses to ensure the best fit and choose lens options to meet their individual needs. I will custom-fit each new pair of frames to make sure they are comfortable and fitting properly to get the best vision through the lenses. I believe you cannot have quality and quantity, it’s one or the other, and we are the Quality!

Kahlan

Optometric Assistant

I started my optical journey in 2022 and while I have already learned so much, I am hungry for more. I was born in the Bay Area but moved up here in 2004 to be closer to my family and grow up in beautiful Grass Valley. When I’m not at work, I enjoy showering my cats with love and taking my two dogs to the river or on hikes. The world of optics has truly sparked a new passion within me and I cannot wait to see what the next step of this journey has in store.
